Thanks for the link. It's on the technical side, but understandable. Be sure to look at the table at the bottom of the page. Somehow the receiver names got cut off, but it is interesting to note that the $350 receivers are just as accurate as the multi-thousand dollar units.

 

Also notice the mention of the Magellan's auto averaging "feature." Maybe a Maggie user should email them with some hits. Hula wave anyone?

I thought it was pretty funny that the Magellan was listed as having a "signal-sensitive antenna".

 

Well, DUH!

 

I wonder if it also has pressable buttons?

That report is two years old, so it's not really of much use. All current (and recently firmware upgraded) models of Magellans no longer require the hula wave, BTW.

I actually own one of those dinosaur MAP 410's shown in the report...it was my first GPSR.

After I posted the link I checked back and noticed that it was an old report. Still, the treatment of the subject matter was interesting.
