Printing out a Paper Map from Mapsend

Recommended Posts

My son is doing a project with a travel bug for a geography fair. We started entering the waypoints for each of the caches it has been to on MapSEND Streets.

Now I find that there seems to be no way to print out the map on paper. Is this the case? I also tried Print Screen, but that didn't work either.

If there is no way to do this, can anyone suggest another program that you can add waypoints to and show their location on a map for printing?

TIA,

Janine

I find that very odd. MapSend Topo has a print function located on the tool bar and located in the File menu.

Now you can also do a Ctrl/Print Scrn and then paste the clipboarded image to your favorite app and print it that way. A little kludgy, and you'll find the text might be hard to read because of the resizing.

On Mapsend streets when I hit file, here are the options:

Open

Add all regions

Save Waypoints

Save Track

Exit

This is in the part where I am adding the waypoints and I can see the map on the screen. Perhaps I should save it somehow first and then pull it up some other way to get the print option?

I wonder why Topo would have a print option, but streets would not.

PS: Control Printscreen doesn't work either.

CTRL-PrintScrn will COPY the contents of the screen to your clipboard. After pressing Ctrl-PrintScrn, open a new Word document (or photo editor) and paste the image.

It sounds like you are running XP, and the user account is limited in terms of functions installed and usable. If so, the account is too restrictive.

If your son is using his own account, and you have one that has all permissions in place, such as an Administrator account, then try it there and see what happens. That will tell you plenty right there.

The ctrl-prscr option given really is the only one.

And for those that are looking at him funny, it's true; "Mapsend Streets" (i.e. the one packaged with the 330x) has NO ability to print maps.

"Mapsend Streets and Destinations" does. "Mapsend Topo" does. "Mapsend Streets" does not.

Yes, it's rather odd...

Okay, I switched accounts and I was able to do the ctrl/printscreen option and import it to another program. But you are right, it is small and hard to read.

Anyone know another program that might be on the web that will do what I want?
