+OZGrumpy Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) I want to be able to delete old messages in the message centre from a conversation with another user. I have thousands of messages from this user (we communicate a lot) over the last two years and is becoming an issue on the mobile app (iPhone 15 Pro Max). The iPhone app will open the messages from the selected user, and display the first message, load the remainder then scroll to the last one. This process is now taking around 20 seconds due to the large amount of messages. In the web version, only the last 20 or so messages are displayed by default which avoids the issue. Please provide me with a way to archive or delete messages prior to a given date. I would be eternally grateful. PS - this was requested by another user in 2017 in this forum. That should be allowed if both parties agree, because it involves two people. The other person mightn't want their messages deleted. Quote

Although nothing against being able to delete a message if BOTH parties agree. The advantage of not being able to delete is that anyone who writes abusive messages can't just delete the conversation and then deny it all. It provides some protection that the messages stay. Besides, it's good to be able to check previous messages and see what communication was like with them previously, and get a reminder of who they are. Edited January 9 by Goldenwattle Quote
