+Geocaching HQ
Release Notes (Website: Player Profile update) - November 13, 2024 With today’s release, we have made it easy for a player to see if they have already created an outgoing friend request when viewing the pending friend’s public profile. Prior to this update, a player could not tell if they had already made a friend request, which could lead to creating multiple friend requests by accident. With this update, the “Cancel request” option indicates that a friend request has already been made; and they can cancel the friend request, if desired. +Max and 99
Just a little bit of feedback: I got a notification of a friend request. I clicked on the user's profile, and "add as a friend", thinking that would accept the request. But I think instead it sent a friend request to that user. I realize this is mostly user error, but it did cause me a little bit of confusion since the friend request had already been made on their end. 2 Quote Link to comment

To manage friend requests you've received OR sent, you navigate to your own Dashboard > Your Friends > Pending Friend Requests. In the email notification of the friend request, the link sends you to that page as well. When viewing another player's profile page, you can manage only the friend request you've sent, not a friend request that you've received. Quote Link to comment
+thebruce0
Perhaps when viewing the profile of a user who sent an outstanding friend request, the "add as a friend" link could read "accept friend request", to be more clear, and to avoid overlapping outstanding requests. Unless of course it's important to keep the "who asked who first?" aspect of the exchange (you hang up..no you hang up..no you hang up..NO YOU H--) 4 Quote Link to comment

I thebruce0's suggestion would provide a better user experience. To deliver the current feature, you already have to check the database to see if the viewer has requested friendship with the current profile page. Doesn't it make sense to add one more query to do the inverse? (see if the current profile page has requested to be friends with the viewer?) If you did that, then you could have three states: * Add friend (if neither have requested) * Accept | Reject friend (if they've requested friendship with you) * Cancel request (if you've requested friendship with them) Edited November 29 by SFTX 2 Quote Link to comment
