+pantadeusz Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Hi, I have an idea for a simple cache and thought maybe to place it as a Wherigo, but I have never made one of them and so I have a simple question about it just to verify whether the Wherigo app allows it. I would like to "force" the finder of the cache to listen to a particular song. So I thought upon opening the cartridge, the song would play in a way that cannot be interrupted. Then, at the end, the user would simply get the coordinates of the final. Obviously I am aware the cartridge would be hackable, but I don't particularly care to prevent that. Is this possible in principle? Quote
+Tungstène Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Yes it is. Only smartphones' apps will be able to play the song, though, not old Garmin GPSR known to be compatible with Wherigo (these could only play beeps). Geocachers will have to be warned to download the "Pocket PC" version of the cartridge, since all other versions will be compiled with MP3 resources stripped. I can't remember if there is an event triggered by "song finished to play" but, if it isn't, you always can start a timer simultaneously with the song. (If you really want to offer this experience to all players, there is a tool somewhere in these forums to write and record "beeps songs" compatible with Garmin's Wherigo players). 1 Quote
Ranger Fox Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 Here's a simple way to do this: start the song, then start a timer. On the timer's elapsed event, show the zone or message. Oh, I'd love to see you make that Garmin GPSr sing with beeps. That would be quite funny. Quote
