+tomfuller & Quill Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 I am in the process of making a large Olympic Rings GeoArt in Oregon. I want the mystery caches to show up as a smilie on the Olympic Ring of the color and position of the virtual coordinates instead of showing up at the location of the physical cache. When filling out the cache page, it wants the location of the container first with no option on visibility. The posted coordinates at the top of the page are the location of the container. I type in the virtual location on the section that has the solution checker. In the description section I type in an Olympic question and four possible answers with the mystery coordinates after the correct answer. I know that this can be done since I have seen mystery caches on lakes etc. with the physical caches on land within 2 miles. My reviewer says at least some of the Olympic Rings caches are "wrong". I have been dealing with some caches being less than 528 feet apart. As I understand the protocol, virtual caches can be less than 528 feet apart where the rings overlap. I don't really want to move any physical caches that I took care to make sure they were 535 to 600 feet apart. I'll post a picture of the Olympic Rings so you can see what I'm working with. Quote
+Max and 99 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 If I understand your post correctly, I think you are misunderstanding virtual stages or coordinates as virtual caches? If all the geocaches in the geoart are mystery type then they have a physical container and they are not virtual. Can you please clarify this? Quote
+Max and 99 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 When I first type up a mystery cache I am never able to select a visibility on the first coordinates. But that's okay, I just go back and edit it after I create the page and everything is good. Quote

Virtual in the sense that there is not a container at the "mystery" location. I do have one virtual that was awarded to me in Bend Oregon. It is "The One and Only" and gets at least 20% favorite points. The "Mystery" caches have one container near a drive able road and a computed spot on an Olympic Ring. The coordinates are obtained by finding the correct answer to an Olympic question (out of 4 possible). I patterned this GeoArt after the one done by mandm843 in Ontario four years ago. Quote
