+Geoffnco
No doubt a question asked many times in the past. Could anyone tell me where to purchase and at what cost - ammo boxes. I live between Winchester and Southampton. Regards Geoff Quote Link to comment

spog
On my GPS, Minnesota doesn't lie between Southampton & Winchester. Are you sure you are using the right datum? spog Quote Link to comment
+The Wombles
Most Army Surplus stores keep them, we buy ours in Bristol (Marcruss in Hotwells). Tim and June have previously menntioned somewhere in Salisbury (?). Just try yellow pages and ring first. When buying, check the waterproofing seal in the lid is OK. I overspray the military markings! Quote Link to comment

+Tim & June
Hi All, If your'e in this neck of the woods, there are two places we have found where we buy ammo boxes both of them are surplus stores. The first is in Salisbury (Winchester Street I think) price varies but we have bought two sizes priced between £4 and £5. Good, clean and as new. The other place we purchased was at Romsey. Slightly more expensive and condition was not as good as those from Salisbury. Hence we only bought there once (when Salisbury was out of stock). To clean off the yellow/white lettering sprayed on them we use cellulose thinners or nail varnish remover. Takes a few minutes but it does remove most of it. Mind you, seeing the prices Scotty has found, we might take another trip to Brookwood. Thanks Scotty ! Happy caching Tim & June (Winchester) To cache, or not to cache. That is the question ! Oh to hell with the work. Quote Link to comment
