Cheapest..is the basic Garmin Etrex.

If you know someone in the US, they are cheaper over there.

Check out www.gpsw.co.uk

They do referbished Garmin 12's for about 89 quid.. and will do what you need for caching..

fraid you need a GPS for most.. except my Reivers revenge for one.. but is a fair slog up hill

Been a dartmoor letterboxer for over 6 years (3000+) looking for a newer and bigger challenge. Saw a copy of ComputerActive this week with your very own Moss Trooper included and realised that this was just the ticket!

PS-Any caches in the West Country?

Don't forget the industrial gauntlets and don't wear shorts either - unless you get a kick out of nettle stings and thistle prickles icon_wink.gif

And hell - Percy's Cross is only 40 miles away and plenty of other accessible caches in Northumberland too

Count me in...just received my Garmin etrex this morning! I read the article in Computer Active and thought I'd give it a whirl. As one who is addicted to gadgets/gizmo's, particularly online gaming and general internet technology, I need an objective to hold my attention, hopefully geocaching will provide this whilst taking in some air - even my 10 year old daughter wants to get involved!! Hopefully we will put "The Garden of England" well and truly on the map.

The irony is that I have no sense of direction whatsoever - here lies my first challenge :-o

regards

Digmut

I've been lurking in the background for a while.

Magellan ColorTrak owner. It's big and heavy compared to the latest units but it does the job splendidly. Tough and waterproof. Aerial extender cable kit useful for 'plane trips.

The list of UKGCers has to be over fifty now.

6th decade!

Is anyone keeping a record of numbers on Gods side of the International Border?

Just placed our first cache, there are still plenty of places that are not subject to the Foot and Mouth restrictions.

I really like the idea of the Pub caches, anyone fancy starting a countrywide trail with suitably friendly landlords?

Just noticed that I haven't replied yet. I seem to be the only one of us in the north of Scotland there are a few more caches planned. Maybe someday someone will find one!!!
