Logging a TB into a cache

Forgive my remedial question.  I searched but didn't find the exact answer I needed.

I used to geocache a lot with my ex, but we've been apart for 10 years.  She always did the logging stuff, so I never really learned the ins and outs of the intarwebs part of this hobby.  I'm about to hide a cache (waiting for permission from the state since it's in a state forest).  The cache will have a TB that I'm putting in it.  Do I need to log it somehow? Does it just get discovered and starts its journey when someone else logs it, or do I have to "assign" it to my cache?

See the Help Center article Log a trackable, specifically:

Drop and Visit logs
Follow these steps to drop a trackable in a geocache or log a visit to a geocache.

1. From a cache page, select Log geocache.

2. Below the text box, select an action for each trackable from your inventory:

  • Drop, leave the trackable in a geocache.
  • Visit, take a trackable to a cache but keep it with you when you leave.
