Wheel of challenges - broken promise

From the launch FAQ:

Adventure Lab® app: The challenge and your souvenirs are not accessible in the Adventure Lab app at this time, however finding Adventure Locations will count toward earning souvenirs for the campaign.

 

So why were they belatedly excluded from the final challenge?

I don't know, but maybe it's because this month's challenge is supposed to be about "celebrating the community connections and teamwork that make geocaching so special" and AL finds are pretty much the antithesis of that. Unless you bother to write a review, your finds are anonymous and keep secret from not only the community but the owners themselves.

and they did with earlier souvenirs - the fact they excluded them from this particular set of souvenirs does not mean they broke any promises. Caching isnt just about ALs :-)

I read the FAQ stating that AdLabs would be counted throughout the campaign as a promise.

I didn't see the word "throughout" anywhere in the FAQ entry.

 

As you quoted it above, it says only, "finding Adventure Locations will count toward earning souvenirs for the campaign."

 

And indeed, finding Adventure Locations has counted towards earning souvenirs for the campaign. Finding various types of caches has counted too. Each souvenir has had its own requirements, sometimes counting this, sometimes counting that.
