Royfamily Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Sorry All, but I feel I had to remove the Arboreal Rock cache. The cache is located on a wonderful hiking trail in a sensitive nature reserve. The problem it seems, is that cachers like to take the direct route as given by the GPS. I dont want to help create a new path in the reserve, so I have removed it from the website. I will go and recover the cache soon and will place all the contents into another cache. Peter you placed a camera in the cache, can I put it into another cache or would you like it back? Allan Quote
+Raymond E Posted May 21, 2003 Posted May 21, 2003 I support your action in such a sensitive area. Yet its a good area to encourage visitors. Maybe the answer is to concentrate more on "Virtual Caches" in these areas. Quote
Royfamily Posted May 27, 2003 Author Posted May 27, 2003 Hi Raymond, its good to see you back again. I thought this cache would be ok as its on a well walked path. I did not expect so many people to following the gps and walk in a straight line across the veld. This shows me that these areas are not a good idea at all, even a virtual cache, unless we educate geocahers into not bundu bashing and staying on the footpaths. This also reminds me I still have to retrieve the cache. Quote
+DerekReed Posted May 28, 2003 Posted May 28, 2003 Don't suppose you could use a series of mini-caches to 'guide' cachers through the 'good' routes? One day my sigline will stop changing. Until then, it's "Gone Cacheing". Quote
