+terratin Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 I wonder whether Virtuals with the instructions to send answers to answer1.answer2.answer3@gmail.com are allowed, with the caveat that logs will be deleted if this method is not chosen? I know I don't need to do those, but I wonder what GS thinks. Thinking along the lines of how CO would handle and store private information (my email). Looking at this from European and GDPR perspective. 2 1 Quote

Looking at this from European and GDPR perspective. There's a Rewards 1.0 virtual I did, published in 2017, that was just like that, however looking at the listing now, the logging task is different and just requires sending some answers to the CO via Message Centre or email and posting a photo with your log. I don't know whether the change was made at the request of a reviewer or HQ, or whether it was part of the other changes they made to work around some reconstruction going on at GZ. I use a different email address for geocaching to my real life one, which I set up for convenience rather than any privacy concerns, but it would be one way to avoid such concerns I guess. Quote
+terratin Posted July 18, 2023 Author Posted July 18, 2023 Oh yeah, ignoring it. I don't feel like starting a fight with a CO. Just curious. I thought cachers were free to contact COs in any way they prefer but for some reason have problems finding the right rules on the website. That's why I'm asking. Quote
+GerandKat Posted July 18, 2023 Posted July 18, 2023 The Geocaching HQ had told the reviewer community in 2017, that it is okay to use an autoresponder for Virtual Reward Caches. If you don't want to give away your private e-mail for privacy concerns, you can use a short time e-mail adress or an e-mail adress used just for this usecase (like old for Earthcaches (nowadays ECs with autoresponders won't be published), Virtuals or Mysteries). 1 2 Quote
+JL_HSTRE Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 I'm sending my answers to Virtuals via the Message Center. Period. 4 Quote
