+GiGi4TWCG
I am getting ready to place a cache and have a question about the distance. Is the 1/10 of a mile between physical caches "as the crow flies" OR just as your regular GPS would calculate? 1 Quote Link to comment
+Smitherington
A Straight line between two points is the shortest distance. As the crow flies or as a GPS indicates when it is not in navigation mode. 1 2 1 Quote Link to comment

A recreational gps has around 30ft of error on both ends of the calculation, ie, where it IS and where the GoTo is. This site uses coordinate geometry, round earth, modified to what's usually called "pear shaped", ie the earth bulges just a tad in the middle. There are sites that will take two sets of coords and give you distance results. Sometimes your gps may tell you that there's less than 528ft, when in fact, the distance is that or greater, or that there is 528ft, when in fact there isn't. https://boulter.com/gps/distance/ Quote Link to comment
