Word Count error in Location Description

On the first location of an AL I am creating. I am getting a word count error in the Location Description . The builder is reporting 1028 words / 1024 allowed.

The actual word count, I've inserted is 210 words.  I did a copy/paste from MS Word.  Any  thoughts.

Are you counting words or characters?  The builder has a limit based on characters.

Is there a date that this AL needs to be finished?

If you are rushing to finish using an Adventure Lab credit that expires on December 15, 2020, that deadline has been extended until March.  Yay!

 

Tips for keeping under the character limit:

• don't put two spaces between sentences.
• say "&" instead of "and.
• use contractions, but skip the apostrophe.
• use abbreviations, if easily recognized by the average reader.
