You didn't mention what type of phone you have, so here's an App that both IOS and Android stores have: Spyglass. You can type coordinates into that and get bearing and direction, for free. So if the web site is working OK, view a cache description, and type its coordinates into Spyglass and go. This works even if The Official Geocaching App is acting up. Remember that since you're a Premium Member, you can make lists of caches and load them in advance into the Geocaching App. That will help some, if you can't reach the site later.
