duplicate issued? travel bug code - HQ Logbook TB

Hi. I was gifted a new TB HQ Logbook about a year ago from a friend. I never activated it, for no reason other than Just didn't.

Went to activate it today, and the code didn't work, stated someone else owned it.  Typed in the code to see who owned it, and a TB was activated with the same code last year.

What do I do?

When your "friend" had it, possible that they mistakenly showed the trackable to another, and they got the code?  That'd suck...

Is the one with the same code also a TB HQ Logbook?  

It's in your possession, right?  Where does the other owner's trackable log say where it is?

Possible that you or the "other owner" entered the code incorrectly.

If you find it's not an error somewhere, and it is a (rare I'd bet) duplicate code, you should be able to contact Groundspeak on their  Help Center and maybe get it fixed.

Not sure if you can regain ownership of a trackable if another currently  "owns" it, even if  in your possession, but a contact at the Help Center may tell you for sure.
