+Sparrowhawk
As per subject line! Inspired by a recent posting on these forums regarding "crater lake jr."... what would you regard as THE most georgeous geocache sites within about 3 hours driving of Portland? -Elana (a.k.a. +Logscaler and Red
Anything 3 hours and 10 minutes away from Portland will do! 3 hours will put you in Central Oregon so I would have to send you to just about anyone of them, It would just depend on your idea of "gorgeous". If your after a Mountain top view verses a canyon view. Deep timber or open desert. Very subjective question I think. Of our caches we have put out, try this for the first. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=27274 And this for the second. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=9482 TTFRN, logscaler. +Sparrowhawk
I am basically thinking of a drive which is long but still relatively convenient to Portland. As far as type of place... just plain georgous and not-very-well-known works for me. Forest, lake, desert location, hey, variety is the spice of life! So is NW geology! -Elana (a.k.a. +MattandLaura
young river is a very nice place. Why travel so far though? There are many trails in the Gorge area. My favorites are Horsetail and Bridal Veil Falls. Up in Mt. Hood there are all sort of areas around Wildcat road that take you to hidden lakes and such I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either. Quote Link to comment
skydiver
No idea. Never been geocaching around Portland. How about within 3 hours of Missoula? Then I'd have to say Racetrack Pass, Close Enough, and Gem Lake. --------------------------------------- "We never seek things for themselves -- what we seek is the very seeking of things."
