+beerslayer2000
I am not a fan of Google Maps for geocaching purposes. They hide a lot of detail that I need (trail names being one big example). Yet no matter what preference I set, I get Google Maps on geocaching.com. The "Set Map Preferences" option on the map page gives me two choices: Google Maps or Leaflet. If I choose Google Maps, I get Google Maps. If I choose Leaflet, I still get Google Maps as the default. I switch to one of the other available maps (I like the Thunderforest OpenCycleMap), and it uses that map as long as the map page is open, but as soon as I close it or open another map page, I get Google Maps again. There doesn't seem to be any way to set the map I really want as my default. If I'm going to get Google Maps no matter what I do, why bother to give me the illusion of a choice in the matter? +Optimist on the run
It seems like this has finally been fixed. The new "Geocaching" layer on leaflet isn't as good as the OSM (so-called) default, but anything's better than Google! Quote Link to comment
