  1. I wonder if household weather stripping would work... either the rubber kind or the foam kind.
  2. Necrobump: For whatever it's worth, more than five years later there's still no way to do this that I can find.
  3. I'm seeing the same problem right now, 22:22 PST, 10-Nov-2016. I cannot even complete logging the caches I found today, which is very disappointing considering that I'm on a long consecutive days streak. Whatever the problem from yesterday, it ain't fixed. But at least it's good to know it's not just me.
  4. I am not a fan of Google Maps for geocaching purposes. They hide a lot of detail that I need (trail names being one big example). Yet no matter what preference I set, I get Google Maps on geocaching.com. The "Set Map Preferences" option on the map page gives me two choices: Google Maps or Leaflet. If I choose Google Maps, I get Google Maps. If I choose Leaflet, I still get Google Maps as the default. I switch to one of the other available maps (I like the Thunderforest OpenCycleMap), and it uses that map as long as the map page is open, but as soon as I close it or open another map page, I get Google Maps again. There doesn't seem to be any way to set the map I really want as my default. If I'm going to get Google Maps no matter what I do, why bother to give me the illusion of a choice in the matter?
  5. Any chance you might prioritize this? This feature is sorely needed and long overdue.
  6. I wish I saw the screen as it appears in frinklabs' post above. Sadly, I see neither the "With Personal Notes" nor the "With Corrected Coordinates" link on my page. I'm a Premium member, so if that's a Premium feature I ought to see it.
  7. Sounds useful, but I see no such menu item. Is that new to GSAK v8? (I'm still using v7 because I prefer a registered v7 to an unregistered v8.) If this functionality exists in my copy of GSAK, I can't find it.
  8. Thanks for the responses, folks. I cannot use the API, so far as I can tell, because I'm running GSAK under Linux using Wine, and I can't seem to make the necessary connection to the host database. Unless I can find a way around that blockage, that option doesn't work for me. As far as GC.com's hardline stance on such things, I really don't understand this one. There's a legitimate need, and I'm a premium (paid) member. This would almost certainly be trivial to implement - just another field to filter results on. Why won't they even consider this? Are they trying to phase out all old-style GPSes and convert everybody to smartphones? If so, they will lose my business. I will not buy a smartphone just for geocaching. How, exactly, do they think people might abuse this information? The 'Last GPX date' is an option, but a clunky one. I see no way to do this in a single operation - if 10 caches disappear off the latest GPX, I have to go update every single one of them by hand in GSAK. What a PITA for something that should be a simple update. I'm growing increasingly dismayed by some of GC.com's draconian policies - this isn't the first time they've thrown unnecessary and ridiculous roadblocks in front of me. Anybody there listening, GC.com?
  9. I would like to be able to create a Pocket Query containing info on all the caches in my area that are archived. The primary reason I need this is because I keep a database in GSAK that I use to keep my GPS (Garmin 60CSx) and my Palm (CacheMate) full of caches, but without the ability to update the GSAK database with listings of caches that are no longer active, they never get cleared out of my database. If I had a PQ with a list of archived caches, it would be a simple matter to flag those in GSAK that are no longer active and ensure that they don't get sent to the GPS and/or Palm. Please do not suggest a smartphone. I prefer a standard GPSr for many reasons. Also, I do not want to clear out all my old data in GSAK; I just want to flag/update the caches that are no longer active without removing them entirely. I just want to create a PQ that can filter caches based on whether or not they are archived. I was surprised to learn that this functionality does not already exist on geocaching.com - I cannot possibly be the only person who could make good use of it.
  10. Did you say DIAL-UP?! Yes. Yes, I did. Due to circumstances somewhat beyond my control (and WAY outside the scope of this thread), I am stuck with dial-up access for the near future. There's no question that the new site design is a LOT slower to load, and doesn't provide significant enough new functionality (or, really, any new functionality at all) to justify the slower page opening. I wish there were a low-bandwidth option, but I'm sure they have no interest in producing one. And the squirrel is at the bottom right of the page... That would explain it. I almost never use that page.
  11. I'm fairly new here, so please be gentle... I have a few concerns about the new site update: 1) Site seems *MUCH* slower than before when using dial-up (yeah, I know). It's prettier, yes, but not THAT much prettier... 2) I second HoustonControl's issue - Recently Viewed Caches listing is not updating on any browser I use either. 3) For the first day or two, there was a nice display right at the top on the right that had a big yellow smiley face if the cache listing had been found, or a big blue frowny face if it had been DNF'ed. I thought that was kinda cool, so of course it went away. And of course the biggie, the one feature I'd love to see implemented that wasn't: the ability to store more than one "home" point for quick and easy retrieval of listings centering around different areas I repeatedly visit. Sure, I can type those in manually on the search page, if I happen to remember them, but would it really be so hard to allow a user to store more than one? I must admit I do like the Favorite Points. . . . p.s. What squirrel?
  12. ruidealmeida, cardinal red, thanks for the responses! That is exactly what I was looking for. It's now confirmed: I'm an idiot. I saw this a few days ago, then promptly forgot about it. I've been overlooking that very link all day until now, trying to synthesize a PQ that would do what I wanted (I couldn't.) Thanks again, and happy hunting!
  13. Hi, all - I hope this isn't too stupid a question. I searched here in several different ways but couldn't find an answer already posted, so I decided to ask directly: Is there a way for me to get a GPX file listing all caches I have already found? I'm pretty sure I saw that option somewhere a few days ago, but I didn't need it then so I forgot where. I've tried using a Pocket Query with the filter "... that I have found", but that only brought up about 2/3 of my finds (I believe it omitted caches that are no longer active). The "Enabled/Disabled" flags didn't help either... with either of them checked, the search returned NO finds. I seem to remember there was a simple link to do exactly this somewhere, but if there is, I can't find it again. Thanks in advance for any help!
  14. I know I'm about 10 years late in arriving to this party, but I do think there's a missing option there. The third section of the form should read: Omitting that last option seems like a rather glaring oversight...
  15. I'm considering purchasing a refurbished GPS (either a Garmin 60csx or a Nuvi 350), because I can get a lot more GPS for the money buying refurbished rather than new. Or so it would seem... The question is: are there any issues to be wary of when purchasing refurbished units? Any horror stories? Sellers to avoid? Is purchasing a refurbished unit a reasonably safe thing to do, or am I asking for trouble?
  16. Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? (feedback squeal)
