+EraSeek
I'm doing a little caching over in Eastern Washington. Saw one rattlesnake close up. Heard rumors of snakes at almost every other cache. I forgot to bring a stick! I won't next time! ...but what do you do for those ticks I always hear about? ...Very little sticks "See the wonderous works of Providence! +Pepper
Gosh ES just where are you caching. The twins and I are headed back to Yakima tomorrow and this time I am not leaving the car without my stick. I also know where one is I gonna KILL (big green snake). Pepper Horizontals where it's at! Quote Link to comment
+Og's outfit
Thanks for the warning! We'll be heading to the Sun Lakes area in a couple of weeks. We won't be taking the dogs, so I better start looking into arming the family with sticks. Although the fiercest creature we've ever come acrossed over there was a one-legged sea gull. +slinger91
I learned the "stick" lesson quickly after hunting my first cache in Reno, NV last year. Brooklyn Tavern: Home of the "self serve beer" Quote Link to comment

Pepper http://www.geocachingwa.org Horizontals where it's at! That must be the big green one at the Roosevelt Dime cache. Or maybe the big green one I saw last time at the Snake Pit Cache, Or the 4 I saw last time at the the Rocky Ford cache. You'd think I would have remebered a stick this time. The Rattler I saw was up Robertson Canyon, near Ellensburg and Thorp. I hiked up to a cool horse camp there. The Rattler was in the middle of a dirt road and some horse trailer had tagged him, so he wasn't feeling too great but still kicking. Got a close look at him and let him be. The rest of the trip over here I've been on the lookout for his cousins with almost every step I take. "See the wonderous works of Providence! The uncertainty of human things!" +dasein
We haven't yet run into a snake other than your cute garden-variety. When I was a kid visiting aunt and uncle in Kingman Arizona, we all used to carry rocks in our pockets to scare off rattlers should we come across one. Don't know if it works or is a help, but thought I'd mention it. --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers! Quote Link to comment
+Og's outfit
FYI My hubby and I were in GI Joes this weekend and I picked up one of these. It was only $25.00, and weighs only 10 oz. I really want one of those hand crafted ones that people are talking about in the general forum, but this one will do nicely for our trip next week. OG Prophetically Challenged Quote Link to comment
