Are they real or just playing pranks. King5 news says they are trying to protect the forests. Then why are they making videos and broadcasting demonstrating they are more like Geoterrorists. Why not just take the cache and throw them away. Their videos show they are littering more then protecting.

I would venture to say they're definitely not environmentalists given their method of container/content disposal and choice of leaving behind obscenity-laden calling cards, etc. My guess is young 'uns looking to make a mark and get attention by pissing ppl off. No different than any other delinquent adolescent behavior. My prediction is that it lasts for a few months and dies out as they get bored and realize how much actual effort it's going to take to cleanse the world of geocaches.

The KING5 story you referenced, which mentions the term "geo-smashers", is from 6 years ago, and appears unrelated to what's being discussed in the other thread.

So the King5 news is from something different then the Instagrams? Is the Instagrams more recent? I couldn't find time stamps.

If you google geosmashers, the first thing that comes up is the King5 story, because that term is used in the body of the story text. But it's unrelated to the current Instagram situation.
