+kennythekiwi
Hi, I compile a partially complete project and I get a .GWC file then rename it so it becomes a zip file. The zip file now won't open because it's invalid. Any ideas? TIA Kenny Quote Link to comment
+charlenni
A GWZ file is a ZIP file, a GWC isn't. You couldn't open it by normal tools. Quote Link to comment
Ranger Fox
To expound upon charlenni's post: A GWZ is a zip file created by zipping the lua cartridge file and all resources (e.g. images) used within the cartridge, then changing the file extension. A GWC is a file created by feeding the GWZ file through a compiler, which takes the zipped lua file and creates machine code from it, appending all images' bytes after the compiled lua code. You can't get a GWZ by renaming a GWC. (And the GWZ does not need the GWC included with it.) You can think of it this way: a GWZ is zipped and a GWC is compiled (or the cartridge itself). I don't know what you're doing, but I suspect you might be trying to upload a GWZ to the cartridge listing service site (Wherigo.com). Just zip the lua and images you have and you'll be fine.
