+ShadowWalker02 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I down loaded Geocash placer and can not figure how to get the gpx files into the app on my Android phone. Quote
+T.D.M.22 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 A few questions here- how can we help you without giving you instructions? Are you placing a cache of finding one? You talk about placing a cache, and downloading a "geocash placer" (whatever that is) but talk about putting GPX files on your phone. A few contradicting things here. Quote
+kunarion Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 (edited) I didn't even know there is an Android App called "Geocache Placer" (there really is!). According to the Play Store reviews (which are used like a mini-Forum, go figure), you import Geocache coordinates by "sharing" the data from Apps that support data sharing. It also can import GPX files from the SD card. Looks like it also works live, that is, go to the desired spot, see the nearby caches. It draws circles for cache separation. Does that App have a web site? [EDIT: I don't see one.] I downloaded an App called "Geocache Placer", and sent my most recent Pocket Query to it using "Dropbox". Do you have Dropbox set up? I also tried it from the SD Card using "Astro File Manager", and can't access the GPX file (on my Samsung Galaxy S Tab, which seems to lock some files and folders from view at times). But in theory, a File Manager App would also work. Geocache Placer does not appear to use the API. Be careful about this kind of App that draws distance circles to show cache saturation. It doesn't seem to handle Multi and Unknown stages, which at times will count in the cache separation. I guess the user may add his/her own custom GPX file for more map info.
