rmatsonr
Hello, I'm hoping this isn't a silly question. We, as a family, started geocaching last week and are loving it. My young girls are really keen to swap stuff, so we've bought a few small toys so they can. We are also wanting to leave a little signature item....prob just a small laminated piece of paper with name and picture etc., at this stage. Is leaving a sig item completely different to swapping a swag? Are we better to leave in with the log book bag (if one) or just in the bag with swags? And what is the etiquette for taking things....are sig items meant it be left for the cache owner to collect or fair game as a swap item (if the sig item is a geocoin or something cooler than a wee laminated paper)? Thanks...from NZ Quote Link to comment
+Touchstone
Link for reference: Signature Items The answer kind of depends on the sig items. Some sig items are Trackable, in which case, I would hesitate to keep it, and treat it like any other Trackable item, and move it on to the next cache to fulfill its goal. Non trackable sig items are fair game to trade for in my mind. Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Some people collect signature items. I see no issue with taking them, but if they are trackable (e.g. geocoins) they should be move to another cache and not collected. It seems the paper sig items are usually slipped among the pages of the logbook. Quote Link to comment
