+Doc Ott
I am tripping home (central MI to Southern WI)this weekend with my 2 year duaghter. The trip take about 6 hours and I am looking for good easy caches that are very close to I80 (IN border to I-39) and I-39 (I-80 to rockford) Any suggestions? Thanx! -Doc Ott A day without thermonuclear fusion is like a day without sunshine. Quote Link to comment
+Markwell
Here's close proximity to the interstate, and my comments on each. Others, PLEASE chime in. JAKE! Never hit On Rollon Ma Boule VERY nice historical cache, and pretty quick. Very close to the interstate as well. Patrick’s Pot Of Gold A little farther off I-80, as you'll have to go one exit up on I-55. A nice cache, but might take some time to find. Nucquette’s Rest Never hit - virtual In the Woods Nice quick cache in Morris, Illinois. A little off the interstate, but has some nice history. A Good Turn Virtual - never been Eagles and Buffalos I personally have not been to this one, but I hear it's excellent. Between a Rock and a Hard Place Never been to it. Cachiversary 1: Forget-Me-Nots Of all of MY placements, I think I'm the proudest of this cache. It's a two-for-one deal as well. Be sure to read the "glowing" comments from the visitors. The Photographer's Cache II This one may not be here for long. It's a moving virtual. Kishwaukee Riverside Cache Never been. Rivers Edge Never been. Willow Creek Family Adventure Nice long standing cache - I hope it's still there. Don't park at the suggested coordinates unless you have a bike. It's about 2 miles from the cache. Rock Cut Cache A cache that has stumped me twice, and I just haven't made it back. Very nice portion of the same park as Willow Creek Family Adventure. Anyone else with a cache that I missed or comments on these? Markwell Chicago Geocaching "Therapy is expensive but bubble wrap is free." Quote Link to comment
+GeoGil
My humble suggestions. Eagles and Buffalos ID=15015 Very short hikes but a drive between locations. Minimal bushwhack. In the Woods ID=14680 Another reasonably short walk. Neglibible bushwhack. Between a Rock and a Hard Place ID=37401 Nice walk and minimal bushwhack, but extremely crowded on weekends. +cachew nut
Markwell's list is probably as good a place to start as any. Since I haven't really cached that area I don't have any suggestions. However, should you decide to change your route (it appears you are taking the long way), There are a few you could hit along I-90 and cut some time off your trip, and still end up going through Rockford. I take it you are trying to bypass Chicago altogether though. Quote Link to comment
