+guybles
So, here's a little tale of joy... About 15 months ago, I made a second attempt on GCP91N. Let's be fair, it didn't go very well: for all my efforts, I got many newly acquired scratches, a DNF and lost my GPS 60 somewhere in a lot of extremely unpleasant gorse. I chose to write it off as lost, but left a hopeful note in case someone stumbled across it one day - and, if nothing else, it had my name and number on the startup screen. (as it happened, I was looking for an excuse to get a new GPSr, but that doesn't make it any better to lose an expensive bit of kit) Now, wind forward to yesterday and I get a call from mrplenty, who tells me that a group went to look for GCP91N and, astonishingly, Team Kuckuck had uncovered a rather battered GPS 60 which, with a set of new batteries, turned out to be mine. So, with a little help from Mrs Scothog, SummitPlummet and Original A1, it's now sat on my desk with only a bit of a battering to show for spending an extended period in the great outdoors. So, huge thanks to everyone who was involved - it's great to know that the spirit of geocaching is friendly, open and supportive. Cheers guys! Quote Link to comment
+Seaglass Pirates
Thats fantastic news. And great to hear ... now if you really want to lose it put a travel bug dog tag on it next time. You'll never see it again. Quote Link to comment
+stijnhommes
Yes, the community works. A muggle who worked near my father's cache location googled the word geocaching and eventually found the contact details for a team that lives some 40 kilometers away, who in turn contacted my father (who was on vacation). It turned out that due to some construction, the hiding spot would literally be removed from the site and thanks to the warning and everyone's help in passing it along, I was able to head out and retrieve it for him before it got lost. Unfortunately, we still have to find a new spot to place the cache. Quote Link to comment
