Thanks. The procedure is straight forward....except I cannot find where to upload a photo to my gallery. All it says in the gallary is they are a collection of photos from past logs and were automatic. Where can I find the spot to upload images to my gallery?

You don't upload the image to your gallery.

Help Center → Hiding a Geocache → Geocache Ownership: A Long-Term Relationship

3.3. Display an Image in a Geocache Description

http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=59

Note Step 3:

Navigate to your photo directory on your hard drive, and identify the correct picture. Give your photo a name (e.g. "View from West End Overlook") and upload it.

I did find an image on line but I cannot get it to list on the page. Where do you post the URL for the image? I do not want it as background but as the main image under description. Thanks.

Copy/Paste this WITHOUT the colored ABC(I had to do that or it would show as an HTML tag, and you wouldn't be able to read it

<img ABCsrc="WWW.TheURLOfYourImageHere.comABC" />

GO on Google, and memorize how to insert an image, make words bold and change font colors. It's really simple stuff, and memorizing just some basic things will save you a lot of time.

Oh, and under the D/T ratings, and above the description area is a small checkbox "The descriptions below are in HTML" Make sure it is checked, or you probably won't get anything.

just further expansion.

As long as html is enabled, just enter the code into the long description field, replacing the url with the url of your image.

1. Basic Image Insertion

<img src="http://www.imagelink.soso/image.png">

2. Centred but still basic.

<center><img src="http://www.imagelink.soso/image.png"></center>

3. Image will adjust size based on the users screen (It will always fill the description area, and the height will automatically be adjusted").

<img src="http://www.imagelink.soso/image.png" width="100%">

See the following for an example.

The code I used there is as follows.

<a href="http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/large/f3e8b87d-65f0-47a6-9b30-9c59f61f1bb8.jpg"><img src="http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/large/f3e8b87d-65f0-47a6-9b30-9c59f61f1bb8.jpg" width="100%"></a><br>
Photo from GZ, Thanks to: <a href="http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=52f7f551-c594-4716-ae1c-3b3845198436">g.o.caching</a>

May seem a little more complex, but it makes the image the size of the description area (based on the viewers screen size) and then lets them click it to view the full size image. The part underneath is just the credit given to the cacher who allowed me to use their photo, along with a link to their profile.

As PP stated uploading the image is not required. However, to ensure a cache page does not break in the future (the red X in a box), due to the external image hosting site changing/disappearing it is preferable to link to the image as stored on the geocaching.com website.

One can simply upload the image to a cache listing (that you own) and grab the link from there. Often members will use an unpublished cache listing as a container to "host" images for use on their other cache pages in this way.
