dwpgrumpy2
My daughter and I found a cache this weekend that had been on my GPS for along time. It does not show up on the map anymore. This cache is still active. How do I log/ fix this problem? Quote Link to comment
+Kacher82
How do you know it's still active? Have you opened the listing online? If you know the listing number, you can type it into the GC number field on the "find a cache" page. That should bring up the listing. Or you can type in the name. If other caches are showing on the map, and that one isn't, it would look to me like it might be archived. You could still log it from the cache page, though. Quote Link to comment
dwpgrumpy2
By active, I meant, there were several log enteries from the last 3 months. I can't find it on the web site though. Thanks, enjoyed the hike, even if we can't log it! N45 12.761 W119 17.763 Edited July 15, 2013 by dwpgrumpy2 Quote Link to comment
+redwoodkestrel
What was the name of the cache? Or the GC code? You should be able to see both in your GPS unit - that would be the quickest way to figure out if it has been archived or if it's still active. Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ragged
Is it now a Premium Member cache? It can still be logged as Found by a Basic Member... Quote Link to comment

N45 12.761 W119 17.763 Plunking those coordinates into the Hide & Seek page results in no caches in that spot. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/ You're confident in those coordinates? No transposing, etc errors? Seems like there's nothing but traditionals out there, no puzzles, no PMO's, or anything beyond basic caches. How did you have it on your gps for a long time without the GC code and just coordinates? How do I log/ fix this problem? I'm assuming you log under a different username. B. (The cache may be a pre-loaded cache on the GPS) Quote Link to comment
+L0ne.R
Perhaps it was archived on geocaching.com but active on another site. Quote Link to comment
dwpgrumpy2
I believe this was a site I hand entered from someone elses GPS. So, no codes. Not a big deal, it was the motivatin to hike the 3 1/2 miles in, so it accomplished what it needed too. I'm sure at one time it was listed, maybe not on this site. Still new to this whole thing, I have been using geo-cache as a reason to get out with my kid. Quote Link to comment
