Geocoin etiquette

Hi all

Am very new to this and just wanted some advice please.

I found my first Geocoin yesterday.I have logged the find on the Geocoin's page and commented on the cache page and log book that I have taken it.

I see a reference number....when would I need to use that? (Is it just instead of using the actual tracking number stamped on the Geocoin if I want to mention it?)

Also, I logged my find as 'found it' . Now I read about 'retrieving' and 'grabbing'....please could you tell me the difference and how this grabbing works?

Thanks for your time

Logging a "found it" for the cache is the first step, but it requires another step to log the action on the coin.

You need to log a "retrieved" log for the coin, using the trackable number on it. This is a code that is not meant for public display, either in text or in photos.

You "retrieve" a trackable from a cache. You "grab" a trackable from either another cacher or from a cache where the trackable has been placed without a correct "dropped" log and it's not in the cache's inventory.
