In addition to the Etrex 20, there are some very good deals currently on the Oregon 4xx/5xx series as a new model has just come out. Depending on your needs, this can be better or worse... Quote
gpsblake Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 If you want touch screen at a bargain price, the Garmin Dakota 10 is a good unit. The Etrex 20 is very good. If minimum price is what matters most, The Etrex 10 will also get the job done and compared to a yellow Etrex, it will be like riding a jet versus riding a car across the country. I think the main argument against the Etrex 10 is it doesn't have much memory and easy to run out of memory after loading 500+ caches. The Magellan GC also would be a good choice if on a budget, however there has been durability issues with them & it still struggles to maintain a lock in dense environments although much better then the original Etrex yellow. The new firmware for the 2.15 runs real well now. BTW - I still have my original Etrex yellow and it still works although it's resting in retirement now. Quote
