marcdjohnson
Geocachers, I need help with a cache sort of. I have a spot on the Cashie River in eastern NC : n35 55.378 w76 43.871. It is near Goodmans and Wood Island along the Cashie River.. It is the spot of a sunken tugboat( least i think it is ) that I use to see every time I visited my grandparents back in the mid 60's thru 70's. Goggle Earth shows me that it might still be just barely above the water (everything in that part of NC near the water sinks slowly I believe ). It's best seen from the water. We used to see it while traveling over the NC 45 bridge. Can anyone get a photo? Pls Be careful, I think that part of NC is full of snakes etc and the bridge is also dangerous I would imagine. There's no safe place to stop on that bridge. Marc J Quote Link to comment

+Maconb
I live about 30 miles from williamston and will be glad to check it out. I don't know when I will be able to go that way. If you want to email me the cords and a better discription I will do it when I get the chance. I will be going close to it Friday because there is a cache just north of Plymouth that hasn't been found yet. But my travels will be taking me to OBX. Feel free to email me. Quote Link to comment
+Maconb
Is it the bridge where the boat ramp is? The boat ramp should be on the south west end of the bridge. My dad and I use to go there all the time and pick up drift wood. Quote Link to comment
marcdjohnson
Hey MaconB, Its actually a tugboat that was sinking into the swamp back in the day. I'm pretty sure I found it via Goggle Earth and thats the coord I gave which should be really accurate. It seems to maybe be just barely above the water. The challenge to get a pic of this coord is that I'm pretty sure the only way to do it is from the bridge or from down on the water. I will use Google Earth again over the weekend when I get home to see where on the brige in relation to its high point. My Grandparents were from that region, he was a fisherman from Merry Hill, NC.
