+paul6921
i have been geocaching for about 3 years on and off when i started out in the morning i found a cache .later on in the day about 6 hours later i went back to the same cache i noticed the electronic compass was off about 20 feet than it was in the morning.it was dead on in the morning.the batteries were fully charged when i left in the morning.6 hours later they were still quite full, when i got home my manual says when on long walks or on for long times to recalibrate the compass. i only do this when i change batteries. why would it lose accuracy does anybody else experience this ? thanks Quote Link to comment
+Atlas Cached
What type of batteries are you using? Do you have the appropriate type selected in the Oregon Setup Menu? Iron in the batteries will influence the compass. Quote Link to comment

+Cacheoholic
Sounds like your GPS accuracy has changed not the electronic compass. The electronic compass only points direction not distance. The GPS determines distance. Many factors influence GPS accuracy, some you can control but most you cannot. Quote Link to comment
