sharkman8810
I am looking for a bluetooth gps to go with a lg optimus v and an acer iconia a100 tablet. Android and ice cream sandswich operating systems. What gps do you recommend, what is the expected accuracy? I am looking for accuracy and battery life. I do currently have a garmin vista hcx that works good, and can use for the rugged stuff; but i like the phone functionality. Can the bluetooth gps give me better accuracy than the vista hcx? I would carry the bluetooth with my phone for hiking and use it with the acer for road using mapdroyd. The gps in the tablet I dont think is very good. I was looking at the etrex 30, but it isnt worth $250 to me yet, and a globalsat bt-xxx is in the $50 ish range. Quote Link to comment
+eusty
BT gps units are cheaper than that, have a search on a well known auction site Not sure on the hcx, depends on what chipset it has. Quote Link to comment
+Dinkythedragonriders
Are there any GPS devices that would just plug into the micro USB on a tablet and just work? Quote Link to comment
+baloo&bd
Are there any GPS devices that would just plug into the micro USB on a tablet and just work? Not without a host cable.. In my vehicle, I use a Garmin 10x using BT on both my laptop and my tablet (Motorola Xyboard). I have used it on my laptop for about 2.5 years and my tablet for about 4 or 5 months without any issues. Quote Link to comment
+Dinkythedragonriders
Thanks baloo&bd, I assume by host cable you mean like a OTG USB adapter? Does anyone know if bluetooth dongles work on tablets though a OTG USB adapter? Quote Link to comment
