+popokiiti
Good for you for sharing the stars and planets with your kids! Keep an eye out for Astronomy Day in your area...and check to see if any nearby observatories have public viewing nights. All I have to do here is say "what's that?" and the resident astronomer gives the info! Quote Link to comment
Wintertime
A friend of mine has this program: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/star-walk-for-ipad-interactive/id363486802?mt=8 that takes advantage of the GPS receiver and accelerometers in her iPad to exactly replicate the sky wherever she is and whatever direction she's looking in. She can then get more details on any object. I think she can also do the opposite--select an object and have the app guide her where to look to find it. Patty Quote Link to comment

Yes, a nice unit. It is quite accurate on identification/finding objects when compared with an iPad or Android tablet app. Add a small speaker for narratives. Only downside I have is being slightly color blind, I can't read the night mode display without a flashlite. Quote Link to comment
