  1. And the geo-trail damage and carbon emissions- what an unthoughtful environmental crime. Yes you get a record- not the one you thought though.
  2. All that litter in such a nice country- shame on you.
  3. Place it in the nearest round receptacle
  4. I didn't bother to read the drivel above but how about this for ethics. If I throw my junk out on the side of the road it is litter. If I throw it out and list the coordinates on a website it magically becomes a "game" The fact is that 2 million + caches are essentially 2 million pieces of plastic (or other materials) garbage that would not otherwise be in our natural environment. All for the sake of an online game. Don't even get me started on the geo-trail damage that is being done. How is that ethical for you??
  5. Who cares? For a game with no rules how can there be cheating? GO OUTSIDE and stop worrying about other people on the inter -web!!!
  6. Sick of all the micros and nanos that people think constitute a good hide. Yes, if done right they can be fun, however since 95% can't seem to do it right I call for a ban on these caches. Will you ban them GS and raise the quality of the cache?
  7. The GPS on the aircraft is best left int he cockpit- after all they need it more than you will. On the other hand try bringing a GPS jammer or spoofer on board, turn it on mid-flight- oh the hilarity that would ensue!!
  8. Yes Mr. Yuck, one left- it is kind of sentimental to me being my first. Although as you know the other ones I had out there were the most brilliant caches around here-especially when compared to the L.L., which are probably some of the worst caches out of the 2 million on the globe. As I recall you had said you would pour gasoline all over yourself and set yourself ablaze before doing another Loop cache. Anyway, I like you, come on out here find my cache and then maybe we can do some caching and be goofy together.
  9. Logging ones own caches: 1. There is NOTHING wrong with it. 2. "Bad Form" says who? Think i would let the lackeys decide what is right and wrong for me. never. 3. I have logged all my own caches, and I am proud of it. No "excuses" necessary This is you game, you are free to play it your way. Try to avoid the psychological programming from GS or the forums. I do what I want- KCCO
  10. Here is a clip from our local news. These cachers talk about being "obsessed and addicted" I would say so, but not in a good way. Based on the treatment to other cachers both publicly and privately things have been less than friendly, to say the least. http://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=970043 Look at this publicly posted note on one cache, publicly calling out other cachers finds- based on nothing more than assumptions. "Went out after a bit of caching to do some maintenance on my own caches along the south end of the Loop. Stopped here as I felt this was a really easy find and the previous DNF's I can understand as this cache wasn't there, missing, gone. Even the tree it was on and it looks like it was taken out for some time now as the stump has even darken up. So I don't know about the three finders after, unless did they really do any caching, think not or just getting numbers, disappointed. I will email them. This cache now will be archived as there is no more hiding spot. Sorry to those that didn't find and thanks to those that really and I mean really did find it." I have also been on the receiving end of similar correspondence of this manner from some of these cachers. Sometimes over something as small as an NM logs. This type of "obsession and addiction" have given us many poor quality, dangerous and illegal caches. But if you raise concerns be prepared for nasty messages and accusations. When I got into caching I was under the impression there was some type of community spirit involved. After seeing how some cachers treat other cachers, I think we will just do this on our own. One of those cases where a few can ruin it for the many- because they take it too far.
  11. There is a story there somewhere
  12. An alternative View on Caching. Found this blog (I would post the link but that would violate the TOU here re: profanity.) Here are some excerpts: Welcome to my I hate Geocachers Blog !!!! Im going to start out by explaining I was an a cacher for one year with over 600 finds. I quit archieve all my geo litter and hate them all. Geocaching is not an outdoor sport all it is , is a bunch of wanna be outdoorsman spreading litter all over the countryside. Geocaching should be outlawed its not only litter but its dangerous and causes concern when these morons are creeping around. These Idiot take it so serious. ITS A GAME YOU LOSERS!!!!!!!! Did you ever wonder about these so called "Eco Friendly" Geo***** running around with there gps devices leaving tupperware and pill bottles everywhere have to do with helping the enviroment?? Just think if you muggled every geocache in the the world it would full hundreds of landfills!!! this idiots are littering I dont want to hear this as long as its maintained its not littering. If Im walking in the woods hunting and find one of your precious containers say good buy to it because it will be fuel for my camp fire!!! and your precious geocoins and travel tags will be right with it losers !! Have at it fellow cachers
  13. This is what they told me in regards to a cache for our Veterans: Thanks for your cache listing submission. I have Disabled your listing, as there are two items that need to be addressed: 1) Groundspeak provides a cache listing service with the expectation that cache pages will be about the cache, with perhaps some information about the history or features of the location. Geocaching.com does not allow caches to be used as a tribute, or to honour any group or organization (the military, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, etc.). As a result, your text will need to be modified before it can be considered for publishing.
  14. "Tribute" caches are not permitted according to GS rules.
  15. Here, that would be a crime- Mischief under $5000. You would be imaged well before you could spray, assuming you could locate it. I get the images on my mobile immediately. If it is legal to place a cache in a public area, it is also legal to place a variety of other items, including game cameras in an area of wildlife. What an ignorant statement AZ.
  16. I have been up in that country. They have a long way to go on a very dangerous route. This will be a long haul.
  17. It was discussed a while back, public lands, wildlife. Might as well see what happens. It is very well hidden and secured with a lock and tracker. I am not worried about losing it. From my log: Found after some searching. Saw the deer tracks. Set up one of my many game cams here to see the deer knowing this will be a good spot for it. It is also watching GZ so should be interesting shots of cachers doing their thing as well! Can't wait to see. SL- TFTH
  18. Thanks for the heads-up. I have alerted the volunteer cache reviewers for your home area. Special, just for you Keystone. And Art lives another day.
  19. Oh yeah, I also drill holes into Maple Trees every spring to get sap and make syrup. Pure evil. Sticky delicious evil.
  20. After reading this thread I will make a point of going into the woods nearby and carving (with my chisel set) the Word "GEOCACHING" on to a very large and living tree. Some people just want to see the world burn. Photos to follow. Defacing? No. Artistic? Yes.
  21. There are no "rules" take what you want, leave what you want- survival of the fittest and all. (Darwin 1860ish) I found a meteorite while caching -NWA869- it is sitting on my mantle now- one of the best pieces of "swag" I ever got with ,the ammonites someone left for me. I have also left high end electronics in caches that somehow ended up in Cuba for some family with a pressing medical issue. Oh the stories I could tell!
  22. 12,782 km- but I'm not saying what I found!
