+ktsmom
I am planning a trip to Italy this year. I want to use my Garmin Oregon 550 for caching. My question is, what map do I need to buy for turn-by-turn directions for Italy? I want to make sure I can navigate around the towns for caches. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Joy Quote Link to comment
+dfx
The cheapest option (because it's free) would be an OSM-based map, e.g. from http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ Routing works quite well, but there's two limitations: Coverage may or may not be as good as you'd like. Check that beforehand for the areas you're interested in. And: address search doesn't work. You can route to any destination if you know the coordinates, go to a waypoint, a POI, or pick it off the map or w/e, but you can't enter any addresses. Quote Link to comment
+webscouter.
I use the maps mentioned above quite often. I have used them in Naples, Venice, Rome and Sicily. Quote Link to comment
