Image Upload Resizing

Seawind

Recommended Posts

I uploaded an image for use on a new cache page. The image was 500 X 302. However, after uploading, it was only 300 X 181.

In the past, I have been able to maintain larger dimensions, and thought that 600 was the limit. I tried a few more times, but was always resized to a max of 300. I could use PhotoBucket for hosting, but prefer geocaching.com. Has anything changed regarding the limit? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

The limit hasn't changed, but a recent site update has introduced a bug in showing gallery images that still hasn't been fixed. You can get to the full size images either by going through the "view image gallery" link, or load the smaller image first and then remove the "/display/" from the URL.

I noticed this too on our new caches we own. It was really irritating for a few minutes while I tried to figure out what was going wrong. My method of getting around the problem was to click "edit" next to the image, and then click it directly to get the full sized resized image.

I've also noticed a new variable seems to be appended to the end photo URLs:

...?rnd=x

Where x seems to be a number between 1 and 0. Changing it does not seem to do anything. Odd.
