Jentel2012
I am using the Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 and the Goundspeak app. I don't find the coordinates reported by the app of my current location to be accurate. I take a note of my current location, walk like 100 feet away, come back to the location and noticed the app showing coordinates which are off like feet. Is this a limitation of the phone's GPS receiver? App or both? At one time the coordinates and compass readings didn't change at all while I was walking. I had to restart the phone. Yep it's a limitation of the phone and app. We have a cacher locally that is known for coords that are 20 feet off when he hides, all because he uses only a phone. Quote Link to comment
+SunshyneSeeker
I use the WP7 app on the Samsung Focus also. I find that I generally never use the coordinates listed by the app on the start up screen. Also I have never compared them to what my Garmin 62t says my coords are either. What do you use the coordinates for if I may ask? Quote Link to comment
Jentel2012
I use the coords to know how far I am from the cache. Otherwise how else would I know? Quote Link to comment
+SunshyneSeeker
When I select the cache I am searching for, on the description page, there is a button on the bottom that is the icon of a unfolded map(first one on the left). I select that, the map screen comes up and on the top it says how far I am away from the geocache. From that same map page, you can also select the button/icon (the third one from left) of the compass. That one shows you the coordinates of your current location, coordinates of the cache location, and the distance of how far away you are from it. I can try to take screen captures from my phone if you like so I can better expain what I mean. Let me know. Hope this helps! Quote Link to comment
Sphinx2000
The compass coordinates should be used. Edited August 4, 2011 by Sphinx2000 Quote Link to comment
