coperLV
Hello! I wanted to ask if i can somehow use my Sony DSC-HX7V for geocaching. I don't need anything more than a map, where i can put several waypoints. I can find way to the place myself, only so i remember where it is exactly. Thank you! Quote Link to comment
MtnHermit
I'm not aware of any of the GPS P&S cameras that allow you to enter a waypoint. Their sole function is to record the coordinate location of a photo in EXIF data. A few, have crude mapping and can show your photo location on a map. Again, I don't believe you well see the coordinates. At this point in product evolution, you're better off with a smartphone or a GPS with a camera like a Oregon 550. Admittedly those are far inferior cameras to the Sony you linked. Your money, your choice. Quote Link to comment
+IHaveFish
I had the HX5. When I place a cache I forget my GPS. Ok, I had the camera with me. Made some spoilers and two days later I return with the GPS. The coordinates from the camera was over 400m off! (I used the right system!) So forget it, use GoogleMaps or a paper maps. Or a smartphone with camera and GPS-App By the way the camera makes very good films and fantastic photos Quote Link to comment
