Unable to drop Geocoin

I found a Geocoin in California.

But it never showed any mileage from Alaska to california.

I want to place it in a cache this weekend, but the drop down menu doesn't seem to want to let me?

Any help?

You have the coin in your inventory.

 

Go to the page of the cache where you found it. Find your log and edit it. In the bottom part of the page, find the coin and select "visited". Submit the log. That will add the mileage to the coin.

 

When you want to drop it, use the same procedure (you don't need to edit your log, you can do it when you create your found log for the first time), but instead of choosing "visited", choose "dropped".
