simmonsfamily954
How much memory does a geocache use on a GPS? Is there a certain amount of megabytes it uses? We have a Garmin eTrex Venture HC GPS and we have a lot of maps loaded on to it and we wanted to know if we had enough memory to have a couple hundred geocaches stowed on it along with the maps. I'm pretty sure it holds up to 24 megabytes and we've used 3/4's of it on maps. Quote Link to comment
+39chevy
The 24 meg memory is for maps. The cache memory is separate and will hold the full number of caches(500 i think). Quote Link to comment
+niraD
Don't worry about the memory. Compared with the memory required for maps, geocache data is trivial. But different devices have different limits for the number of waypoints/locations they can store. I looked up the specs for the eTrex Venture HC online. Its limit is 500 waypoints/locations. +Harry Dolphin
With over 3000 finds, I can remember most of them. That worries my caching companion. Not sure how many megabytes that takes. "There's benchmark rith there on that bridge." Quote Link to comment
