TiltedKilts Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 This last week I had family in from out of the country. When we had a little free time he introduced me to this hidden world. We discovered 6 caches in my area which he signed and logged. Yesterday I registered and decided to give it a try on my own. Should I go back to the 6 and sign them myself And log them or should i skip and only move on from here. Not a big deal Either way, but hey I did find them too. Opinions? Quote
+briansnat Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 No need to go back. Just mention in your log that you found them with your family member. Be sure to use the correct date when you log and most cache owners won't have a problem with it. Quote
+StarBrand Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Wecome Aboard!! ..and do what Briansnat suggested. Quote

If you want to, and it's not a pain in the asp to do, sure...go back and sign the logbboks with your own caching name. Then log them on-line. If you don't want to do that, then log the founds on-line, backdating appropriately, and make note in your log of something like "originally found this with Cacher XYZ. Now logging under my own caching name." Later on, if you really get into it, and want to keep track of milestones, you'll be glad to have recorded all your finds from the beginning. I didn't do that, and it kinda bugs me. Not life-threatening, just one of those irksome things. Quote
TiltedKilts Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks for the replies. I think I will try to go back to them if I can (the 1st 4 were really close). If I don't I will make a note as suggested. As a side note, I really have to give credit on some of these caches for creativity. If the ones I did were 1 and 2 stars, I'll never find the really hard ones. Quote

Remember that a 3 is considered, by most, to be the most difficult of the "average caches." 4 & 5 would require special pre-knowledge, preparation, skills, or equipment. For the most part, a 3 will be your "hardest" at a beginning level. Even that, according to guidelines, COULD take an experienced cacher the majority of an afternoon (and maybe even multiple trips) to find. In reality, this is not usually the case - But a properly rated 3 could be a real challenge! Aren't you glad you started caching??? Quote

You'll find the tricky ones...we kept missing an easy one, as did other more experienced cachers, but there were a lot of newcomers who did find it. Whatever you do, have fun - you can always retry a cache that beats you. Welcome aboard! Quote
