+memefactory
I am new to geocaching but love it and want to start leaving some of my own caches around Prague, where I live. I am planning on doing various themed series of caches - like "Cubism in Prague" or "Prague Breweries." My question is this: sometimes there is already a good cache near or at or themed to the location I am thinking of, so would it be cool to simply include these caches by other people in my themed series list? Should I ask each person or simply go ahead and add them to the list (and save myself trying to find a cache hiding place in the process)? +Mom-n-Andy
You should definitely contact the existing cache owners. And be sure to include something like "hidden by xxxxx" in your list so they're credited. Quote Link to comment
+addisonbr
I would *definitely* ask them first. Some will be tickled to be asked, but you want to be pre-respectful of those who might not want to participate. Good luck with your series! I bet the Prague Breweries one will be popular Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
If you are simply creating a bookmark list I see no reason to ask. I have a series of history related caches and I also have a bookmark list of history related caches. I saw no need to ask the owners if they wanted their caches on my bookmark list. +lemon16
I had a similar idea and created a similar forum thread: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=267312&st=0&p=4591978&hl=using others' My advice is if you personally know the CO's involved and they are willing to participate, then go for it. But if not, I'd advise against it. Edited February 13, 2011 by lemon16 Quote Link to comment
+memefactory
Great - thanks for the replies...Contacting the cache owners seems to be the polite thing to do. I cannot imagine anyone would say "no" to be included on a list. And if a particular perosn doesn't respond to my query, I can stick them on anyway and remove them later if they complain.
