+vincesfamily
I use Mapsource to download to my etrex. It's worked fine for several years, but sometime between mid-December and last week it stopped accepting my .loc files. Now when I try to open one, it tells me it can't open the files. The old files from December are still there, and they open. Can anyone tell me if something has changed that would make mapsource refuse to open my files and what to do about it? thanks! I seem to remember that Groundspeak changed the format of the .loc files recently. In theory the change should not affect the xml reader, but probably has. Did you try a more recent version of mapsouce? Quote Link to comment
+Red90
Yes, Groundspeak changed the format of the files and Mapsource cannot open them. Nobody told Garmin... These questions are better put at the Garmin forums. https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=15635 Quote Link to comment
+HHL
[…]d make mapsource refuse to open my files and what to do about it? thanks! Solution: Create an additional member account. Member loc-files do not include the new tags. Hth Hans Quote Link to comment
+vincesfamily
thanks, everyone. It appears that garmin has come out with a base camp update (3.1.3) that addresses the problem. Quote Link to comment
