8mmag
There is a card for sale locally. My question is, can these maps be uploaded into MapSource from the card like maps on CD/DVD so they can be included with other (City Navigator) maps in a mapset for transfer to a big microSD card, subject to the 2025 map tile limit? I'm using a 60CSx and 4Gb microSD now. Thanks for the input... Quote Link to comment
MtnHermit
Absolutely NOT. It might be possible to view the maps in BaseCamp, but not Mapsource. You will never be able to move the file from the SD card to any other card or HDD. SD stands for Secure Digital, secure means just that. Quote Link to comment

The maps are locked by Garmin using technology which has nothing to do with the card type. Quote Link to comment
8mmag
So from the feedback it sounds like I'm SOL wanting to load 24K topos along with CN as a single mapset, as long as the Great Lakes region I want isn't available on DVD, right? If I want 24K topos, I'll need to be swapping cards back & forth, right? Garmin 24K Maps Quote Link to comment

The 60CSx has zilch onboard memory, so yes, you will be swapping. Quote Link to comment
snowfleurys
Look at Garmin's site in more detail. Wisconsin eastward is on the Northeast DVD. MN in on the NorthCentral DVD. Their graphic indicates Isle Royal, MI is on neither. Quote Link to comment

Thanks for pointing out the differences in coverage between the cards & the DVD's. Quote Link to comment
