wister6813 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 On November 13, a maintenance power outage by Pepco in SSMC3 will interrupt the capability of the NOS National Geodetic Survey (NGS) to collect data, and produce and deliver data products from the Silver Spring facility. In preparation for the outage, NGS will be taking down its web and FTP servers at about 2:00 PM EST on Friday, November 12 and will bring them up again on the morning of Sunday, November 14. In the event of a "critical weather day" notification, this maintenance will be postponed. In an effort to minimize the impact on our customers, NGS intends to make changes to our network configuration to have the ngs.noaa.gov name map to a server at our facility in Boulder. If these changes are successful, there should be no perceived interruption in web and FTP services. However, in the event that the network configuration is not possible, there will be a disruption in all the standard services to our customers from the Silver Spring Facility, most notably: Geodetic Control Data Sheets; Geodetic Toolkit; User-Friendly CORS (UFCORS); OPUS; CORS data FTP service; Shoreline Data; Image Processing and Analysis Quote
