+latahgps
There are a many “Third Order” benches in and around Spokane. Most of these Marks do not have Data Sheets. I have copies of the bench descriptions and some will be extremely hard to find. If live in this area, let me know if you’re interested. I've been refreshing these marks for a long time. When a mark is found I send photos to Denver, with the Lat & Long. and a new description. The list is still long and I need help. To see an example and to see my contact information, go to: ftp://ftp.spokanecounty.org/GPS/bench%20list/ Quote Link to comment

Have you got those last four SW of Freeman along E Elder Rd? Don't see any PID's WSW of the Freeman WA zip code. Looks like a {0.}8 is missing from the description for elevations 2456.07 & 222.297. I pulled up the 1877 GLO plat for T23N R44E and the drainage patterns match. Sure wish that Delorme had put section numbers on their TOPO 9.0 - or is there a toggle switch that I haven't found? kayakbird Quote Link to comment
mloser
I LOVE the USGS marks! They are often a great challenge and take everything you know about an area, and everything you can find out just to figure out where they are. I used Google Earth, topo maps, web research (lots of USGS maps can be found in old survey books on Google Books) and a bit of luck to locate some of the ones I searched for. Your posting reminded me that I wanted to get some more USGS datatsheets and get back to hunting this fall. Quote Link to comment
