Hi,

 

I am new to geocaching and am wondering which GPS to buy for $100 or less to just get started. Also want something that is easy to use and that I can use with my kids. Can someone help me?

For that money - you only really have 1 choice of new units - the Garmin eTrex "H".

 

I'd recomend you look at used if you really can't spend more. I don't think anybody should buy less than the Garmin Venture HC (or Legend "H") ( about$125) for Geocaching. Color screen (Venture HC), long battery life, USB transfers, some map memory, high sensitivity, Geocaching mode.

Ditto I got a good buy on my e trex vista for just over 100.00 If you plan to do any amount of caching at all you need to be able to download the ords for the computer to your GPSr

The Garmin eTrex Legend H is a great little unit for the money. We started out with one and it was very accurate.

If you don't need something brand new, you could always check the garage sale threads in the forums here. There are some good deals pop up there once in a while too.

It is. Especially with the new firmware to correct a few quirks.

 

Its only real drawback is that it is incapable of giving you door to door direction on streets but it has very nice mapping and is fully paperless Geocaching enabled. Very accurate unit as well. About $199 several places.
