+Beast of Traal Posted May 16, 2002 Posted May 16, 2002 I went looking forThis benchmark but the discription discrbes Many diffrent marks which one would I log. This one is a triangulation station TURN RIGHT PASSING THRU GATE AND GO SOUTHERLY FOR 0.1 MILE TO AZIMUTH MARK SET IN THE CURB OF CIRCLE DRIVE. STATION MARKS ARE STANDARD DISKS STAMPED FOREST 1970. THE SURFACE DISK: IS SET IN THE TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 219 FEET SOUTHEAST OF POWERLINE POLE, 98 FEET WEST OF POWERLINE POLE AND 74 FEET SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF THE CENTERLINE OF SURFACED ROAD. THE UNDERGROUND MARK: IS SET IN THE TOP OF AN IRREGULAR MASS OF CONCRETE 42 INCHES BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE. REFERENCE MARK 1: A STANDARD DISK STAMPED FOREST NO 1 1970, SET IN TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 24 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF SURFACED ROAD, 17 FEET EAST-SOUTHEAST OF A 10 INCH ELM TREE AND 2 FEET WEST OF POWERLINE POLE. REFERENCE MARK 2: A STANDARD DISK STAMPED FOREST NO 2 1970, SET IN TOP OF A 12-INCH CYLINDRICAL CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT IS FLUSH WITH THE GROUND SURFACE. IT IS 60 FEET NORTHEAST OF A POWERLINE POLE, 25 FEET SOUTH OF THE CENTERLINE OF SURFACED ROAD AND 2 FEET EAST OF A POWERLINE POLE. THE AZIMUTH MARK: A STANDARD DISK STAMPED FOREST 1970, IS SET IN DRILL HOLE IN THE WEST EDGE OF CATCH BASIN OF THE CURB OF CIRCLE DRIVE. IT IS 97 FEET SOUTH OF THE JUNCTION OF THE CIRCLE, 77.5 FEET WEST OF A 20 INCH OAK TREE, 72 FEET NORTH OF AN 14 INCH OAK TREE AND 3 FEET WEST OF THE OPENING OF THE CATCH BASIN. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE STATION MARK 37.7 METERS. +rdw Posted May 17, 2002 Posted May 17, 2002 Go for the surface disk since it is the primary marker. The other markers are there to survey the location of the surface disk. rdw Quote
+Web-ling Posted May 19, 2002 Posted May 19, 2002 What if the main disk no longer exists, but I find one or more of the auxillary disks? How should I log it? Quote

+patw Posted May 20, 2002 Posted May 20, 2002 The principle bench mark (the station) will have a triangle etched in the disk. The reference marks (RMx) will have an arrow pointing to the station. Quote
+jef Posted May 20, 2002 Posted May 20, 2002 Yeah but what about azimuth marks? Enquiring minds etc. Quote
