Hi all,

I am still fairly new to geocaching but loving it. I started up using an Iphone but i soon realised it wasnt great and now own a Oregon 450 which i think is great. I was just thinking could i add geocashes to my car sat nav (garmin nuvi) so i can see when i am near one on a journey. I dont want to use it to find the cache just to know it is nearby.

thanks for your help with this.

If you don't want GSAK, you can get from the Garmin website POILoader

The GSAK macro uses POILoader to load caches into the Nuvi. Does the POILoader understand Groundspeak extensions? I remember people reporting that using POILoader directly on the GPX files from a PQ, they don't see the description, hints and all the other good stuff.

This is true, you do not see all the extras. I take a GPX, open it with excel and strip out everything except the name, ID and cords. Save it as a CSV then use POIloader to put it into my auto gps. When I drive by one and want to look for it, I just reach into cache bag and pull out the handheld, which has the original GPX loaded into it.

Only takes a few minutes to do this and to me it is well worth the effort.
